The September Issue

I just finished reading the September issue of FASHION. It was absolutely mesmerizing. It is everything you could ever hope for in a magazine about fashion. Obviously the fashion coverage and trend forecasting is great, but the ‘Fashion Shops’ section makes it come to life when it all seems like an unreachable fantasy. Though the sections covers Montreal, Toronto, Alberta and Vancouver, only the Montreal section applies to me. Either way, it’s awesome. Montreal editor Patricia Gajo does an amazing job of filling out the ‘Montreal Notes’ page. She mentions everything worth saying, and her writing makes you want to soak up every single word on the page. Every month, Patricia Gajo never fails to amaze me, a loyal reader, and many others too, I’m sure.
Firstly, see Ashley Olsen gracing September’s cover:
I want those clothes. Here is the Winners ad:
Remember the bag? Here it is:
Here is one of the tables of contents:
You will never go wrong with Chanel.
There was an article about picky eaters. I related to every single word of it. ☺
I love the shoes! Brian Atwood is a very talented designer.
Here are Patricia Gajo’s (amazing) Montreal Notes.
In this issue, Victoria’s Secret Angel Adriana Lima starred on the ‘My Style’ page.
And the last thing for any magazine – the ad on the back cover. This month around it was for The New Essence of Joy by Giorgio Armani.
XOXO,
Nina

Pure Beauty

So I got my September issue of FASHION Magazine in the mail yesterday, and I’m not quite finished reading it all, though I’m going to continue later on in the day. It’s full of really divine things, including a really amazing BCBGMAXAZRIA ad. This isn’t it, but the bag is a part of it. When I’m done with the magazine, I’ll take some pictures and put them here to show you. This one is only for now:

The Job A Million Girls Would Die For

First of all, here is a fashion quote for you:
I don’t do fashion, I am fashion.
Coco Chanel

We all know about the job a million girls would die for. Andy Sachs, being Miranda Priestly’s junior assistant. Although it would be a pretty crazy opportunity to have a job like that, I’d be so very thankful for it. Miranda Priestly is a fictional character, but people with her power and influence do exist in the world, like Anna Wintour.

Of course, with that power and influence comes a well-documented ego. Through the years, Wintour developed a reputation for being aloof and cold. It has been said that she is difficult to work for, and insists that her staff always look fashion-forward and rail-thin. Wintour, a mother of two who famously wore Chanel micro-mini skirts throughout her pregnancies, doesn't exactly deny she can be a demanding person for which to work. "I'm very driven by what I do," Wintour has said. "I am certainly very competitive. I like people who represent the best at what they do, and if that turns you into a perfectionist than maybe I am."
One of Wintour's former assistants, Lauren Weisberger, wrote The Devil Wears Prada (2003), a fictionalized account of her days at Vogue. Her main character, played by Meryl Streep, was a demanding boss not unlike Wintour. The book was made into a film in 2006, and Wintour turned heads when she arrived at the film's premiere dressed in Prada. This move showed critics and fans alike that Wintour was not without a sense of humor.” Biography.

The thing is, I want the job a million girls would die for. I’m just not sure which one to go after yet.
XOXO,
Nina

Despicable Me - Why does going to the movies make you so tired?

I just got home from seeing Despicable Me. It was actually pretty hilarious!
What I find really weird about watching movies at the theatre is that even though you were sitting down the whole time without moving, you feel exhausted when you walk out.
I’m not a movie expert or reviewer or anything, this is only because my parents were off for 2 weeks and they wanted to go out a little before work starts again.

XOXO,
Nina

SALT

Who is Salt?
That’s the question you ask yourself throughout the entire movie. Is she who she says she is? Is she lying to protect herself?
You’ll never know until you watch.
I just got back home from watching it, and it was absolutely amazing. If you haven’t seen it yet, go. It’s a must-see.

XOXO,
Nina
